Meet the Team

Sarah Dunford

Sarah Dunford serves as founder and CEO to Millie’s Home. She is the author of Parenthood Unplanned: A Survival Guide for the Unexpected. She has over ten years non-profit experience and served six years as client services director in the pregnancy help space.  

Her experience as a middle school drop-out, single motherhood for five years, and work in the field of crisis pregnancy is the catalyst that compels her to compassion for women and their children.  

Sarah earned a BA in History from Virginia Commonwealth University and a Master in Education from Liberty university. She is a mother to two amazing kids. She and her husband has been married for 23 years and have been blessed with their first granddaughter this year!

Miranda D. Henderson

Miranda Henderson holds a B.A. in International Studies, and an M.A. in Law, with a concentration in Human Rights and the Rule of Law from Regent University. Previously, she served as an Advisor to the United States Congressional International Religious Freedom Caucus, with Republican Congressman Bilirakis, (AZ -08), effectively advising and supporting the efforts of more than 50 Members of Congress on issues related to Freedom of Religion or Belief and other human rights issues within U.S. foreign policy. 

She led initiatives through the Caucus regarding the Refugee Crisis, Prisoners of Conscience, and the Global Persecuted Church. She also worked a great deal on human rights issues in China, Russia, North Korea, Iraq, Nigeria, and India. Miranda has spent time abroad serving in global Christian missions, and promoting interfaith dialog between the Jewish, Christian, and Islamic faith. She’s worked in several countries including Iraq, South Sudan, Morocco, Jordan, Israel, and Kosovo.   

She is passionate about Constitutional Law, International Relations, the role of government vs. the role of the church, global Christian missions, defending the Persecuted Church, other religious minorities around the world and women. She and her husband have been married almost three years and this year they became parents to a little girl that stole both their hearts.

 

Katie Hinton

Katie Hinton has extensive experience in women’s ministry and care, having served over ten years in various roles. She currently serves as Patient Care Coordinator at a local women’s center. Katie has been humbled to witness first-hand the Holy Spirit moving in the lives of some of the most vulnerable in the community, counting it one of her highest privileges to serve in this capacity. She also serves as a board member to an annual girl’s retreat where young women are encouraged and challenged to be the best version of themselves that God created them to be. 

Katie is originally from Indiana but was raised in Virginia. She born into a large family of 10 children and has enjoyed a front row seat to the joy, beauty, and security that comes from a big, beautiful family. She loves spending as much time as possible with her family that are spread across the United States and overseas. She loves spoiling each of her 16 nieces and nephews and is a creative who enjoys teaching at a local pottery studio and crafting her own artwork. 

She is passionate about families in Virginia. Women facing unplanned pregnancies, and everyone involved in the circumstance.  She sees a baby in need of a voice, a heartbroken woman bound by her fear and pain, looking for answers, as well as a searching man not knowing if he fits in anywhere or could ever have what it takes to walk out the path ahead needing their stories to be heard and to be genuinely and gently loved in return, no strings attached.

Jackie Johnson 

Jacqueline "Jackie" Johnson comes to Millie's Home with five years entrepreneurship experience and over 20 years of ministerial experience. She and her husband, Joseph has been married for 33 years. She has served in many roles of ministry, including youth ministry, inner city evangelism, global missions, discipleship, and worship ministry.  

Dropping out of school at the tender age of 15, Jackie was pregnant with a son that she devastatingly lost at birth. She went on to become a teen mother to two more sons that have blessed her with four grandchildren that she dotes upon. She is motived by her life experiences; grief & loss, lack of resources; understanding what it’s like to be a young parent struggling to get by. As well as triumph over difficulty, perseverance in the face of daunting statistics and her reliance on Christ. Jackie is compassionate, humble, and generous.  

She and her husband live on a beautiful farm south of the James River and loves the adventure that comes with farm life. She and her husband serve others in the community through her local church and Millie's Home. 

Clarissa Luna

Clarissa Luna comes to Millie’s home with an amazing amount of entrepreneurial coalition building experience. She has hosted and managed events for high-net worth investors, entrepreneurs, and U.S. Embassies both in the United States and around the world in places such as United Arab Emirates, Belize, Honduras, Guatemala, Kyrgyzstan, Nepal, and more. She has extensive experience managing and hosting out of the box events and experiences on a small and large scale. 

A champion for women, she organized entrepreneurship programs for women in in the United Arab Emirates and Turkey. She successfully managed programs in Burkina Faso, Oman, Thailand, and Gaum. 

She and her husband Daniel have been married two years. They are currently own and operate The Queens Library Tea Room. Daniel & Clarissa supports incredible causes through the tearoom and serve in ministry together at their home church. 

Her hope is to inspire and influence community & servanthood through Millie’s Home. She hopes to see not just this maternity home and safe house created but as many as we need in our community to create the world she envisions.

 

Eva Ortiz

Eva has over 8 years non-profit experience. She and her high school sweetheart Carlos have been married for over 25 years. They were teenagers when they found themselves in an unplanned pregnancy, but with the assistance of a young parent’s program and the grace of God, they overcame the struggles. 

After the loss of their only son, she sensed a calling to help those who are conflicted in an unplanned pregnancy. That painful experience helped her grow in faith as well as compassion. She sees each new day is an to be God’s hands and feet. Her heart is to serve others who may not realize how much they are loved while remembering that only God can save. We are the Sowers of the seed God has entrusted to us.” 

Eva is an Army veteran (We are thankful for her service) and holds a bachelor’s degree in biology and religious studies from Virginia Commonwealth University. As well as an MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. She is a licensed OB sonographer. She is passionate about trauma informed care.   

She enjoys adventure-seeking, hiking, and working with Youth.

Eileen Roberts

Eileen Roberts serves presently as the President of Parents For Life, a non-profit, serving as a collective voice for parents, educating the public and legislators for the need of public policies which protect teens from the harm of abortion and fights for parental rights in the abortion debate.   

She has served on the Board of Choices Women's Center, in Fredericksburg, Virginia for six years.  She has served on her church Women's Ministry Committee, taught Sunday School and provides support and resources for women facing a crisis pregnancy. 

Eileen is the mother of three and grandmother of seven grandchildren.

Robin Thompson

Robin Thompson, originally from Ohio, was raised in a Pastoral family. She attended Jackson College of Ministry where she met her college sweetheart Buddy. The two were married in 1990 and moved to Richmond, VA where they served as assistant pastors until they become Sr. Pastors of Life Church.

A leader at Life Church for over 25 years, there isn't a ministry she hasn't touched. She is passionate about being in the presence of God. Robin is a wonderful public speaker, talented musician, and a passionate advocate for women, their children and their families. 

Robin and Buddy have been married for 34 years, with two beautiful daughters, and 3 grandchildren. She would say her highest and dearest calling is “making a happy home and serving her family".
